Creative Things to do with Rocksy

I collected some stones from the beach and put them in front of me while I painted Rocksy’s name like this in rocks. At first, all the stones seemed plain grey. But after I looked at them for awhile, I began to see the other colors in them — pink and blue, silver, even yellow. I really enjoyed doing this picture. When I get a big chunk of free time, I might do “Loris Lesynski” in rocks.

Description & Reviews

Roxanne is a lovely child, but alas a clumsy one, always getting scratches and scrapes. One day she makes a wish too close to the Magic Wood, wishing she were made of stone so she wouldn’t get hurt anymore. You can imagine the consequences!

  • Everybody makes imaginary foolish wishes all the time. That’s why this is a plot line used in so many stories. Can you think of a foolish wish story that’s never been written before?
  • If you could have an enchanted coach of your own, what would you most like him or her to teach you?
  • One project I saw in schools: kids lightly lettered their names on sheets of colored construction paper (with teachers writing the names for the younger children), then went out into the schoolyard to collect tiny pebbles and stones. Then they glued them along the letters of their names. They looked great.
